If you want to have your teeth straightened then visiting our orthodontist isn’t a very stressful event, so you don’t need to worry that you will experience any painful dental procedures.
Our orthodontic dentist will give you a thorough oral examination and ask you some health-related questions to make sure that you will be suitable for orthodontic treatment. Our staff are here at all times to help you, so should you have any questions or need to know more about the treatment options open to you, you only need to ask!
You also needn’t be embarrassed about wearing braces to straighten your teeth. It’s not just children that wear braces these days – thousands of adults also want to have straight teeth and a bright smile, so wearing braces as an adult is more common than you might think.
Your first appointment
You will be introduced to your orthodontist and after an oral examination, a set of photographs and x-rays will be taken so your dentist can properly assess your oral health. You will then be told what treatment is actually needed to straighten your teeth and your best options for getting the results you want.
You can then decide if you want to go ahead with treatment and choose the option that most appeals to you. Your orthodontist will then take an impression of your teeth that will help them to build your treatment plan. Once your treatment plan is worked out you will know what it will cost, what will be involved in your treatment and how long it will roughly take to straighten your teeth.
What happens next?
Once you have had your initial appointment with our orthodontic dentist and you have decided on your treatment plan, you will then make a new appointment to get your chosen teeth straightening appliances fitted.
Your dentist or dental hygienist will explain how to take good care of your appliances and how to keep up a healthy oral hygiene routine to help keep your teeth and gums in the best of health while your straightening treatment is working.
Further appointments
As your treatment continues, you will need to make regular appointments with our orthodontist to check your progress and to make any necessary adjustments needed to ensure your teeth straightening stays on track.
Your dentist will recommend how often you need to book a check-up and will also make sure at each check-up that your teeth and gums stay in a healthy condition as your treatment continues.
If needed, your orthodontist or dental hygienist will review your oral hygiene routine to make suggested changes or give advice about brushing and flossing while wearing your device.
