Scars visible on the surface of the skin often make a person feel insecure. You no longer need to feel inferior and lack of confidence in the appearance of visible scars, because there are various ways to remove scars that can be an option.

To get smooth and clean skin, a person can do a variety of ways to get rid of scars, either by using creams that are believed to be able to remove scars, using natural ingredients or through medical procedures.

Surgical wound healing ranges from several weeks, depending on the type of operation performed. To speed up the drying, the best thing is to maintain cleanliness and dryness of the wound to prevent infection, and eat enough nutrients to regenerate the skin properly. Various forms of scars, there are prominent, pockmarked, only changes in skin colour called keloids, the scars that are getting bigger and bigger. Once your wound closes, dries, and a scar is formed, you can use a drug in the market that has been registered, either in the form of cream or gel. New scars may change in a few months. The use of scar gels/ointments requires patience and regular applying, cannot get instant results. Keep in mind the use of scar cream must be done when the stitches have been removed and the wound has closed. You should consult with the surgeon who treats you because he/she knows the shape of the wound, its size, and the severity so that your surgeon can determine the appropriate treatment. If your efforts are not successful, then you can consult a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Nowadays there are various methods of scar disguise including dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, laser, steroid injections and so on.

Usually, the methods used in removing scars will vary depending on the type of wound and its location. Some of the ways below might be an option:

Dermabrasion

If the scar is shaped like a thick lump or higher than the surrounding skin or causes the surface of the skin to become uneven, you can use this method. Dermabrasion is done by using a special tool that is used to erode the surface of the scars and stimulate skin growth so that the skin layer looks smoother and evener.

Microdermabrasion

This process is usually performed on smaller or shallower parts of the wound, such as minor acne scarring, fine lines, age spots, and dull face. Both dermabrasion and microdermabrasion can be performed by a beauty doctor or skin specialist.

Steroid injections

Steroid injections are suitable for those of you who have hypertrophic scars or keloid wounds. Steroid injections can help soften the appearance of these types of scars. However, steroid injections require multiple injections into the scar and need to be repeated over a sufficiently long period of time to even out the scars.

Laser resurfacing

Laser resurfacing has a procedure similar to dermabrasion and requires a shorter recovery time than treatment with previous types of lasers. The use of the latest type of laser in this treatment can give smoother results because it works on collagen tissue in the dermis without removing the top layer of the skin.

Silicone Press

If you have a skin graft wound or a large burn, you can use a cyclic press dressing over the scar. By using this dressing, the scar will look even and softer. Made from elastic material and can be combined with a silicone gel sheet, a silicon press dressing can be worn 24 hours a day, for 6-12 months. This procedure must be carried out under the supervision of a dermatologist.

In addition to several ways to remove the above scars, you can also remove scars through surgery. However, this method will cause new wounds on the skin surface. Whatever medical method you choose to remove scars, make sure you consult with your doctor (Book Plastic Surgeon in Malaysia) beforehand to get recommendations for proper scar management.
